SPOILERS FOR MY HERO ACADEMIA/MY HERO ACADEMIA: HEROES RISING and the Final War.

"If you keep looking down on everyone… you're never gonna notice your own weaknesses."

- Katsuki Bakugo sharing the lessons he's learned for himself to a group of troublesome kids.

Information

Explosion Hero is the 8th character to be added to the game. (10th character, including private Server Characters)

Explosion Hero is based off Katsuki Bakugo from My Hero Academia. His quirk revolves around creating explosions from his nitroglycerin-like sweat, hence the name.

Explosion Hero is the first character to have two ultimate modes, which are "Fury Ignition" and "TENTH TORCH." To use TENTH TORCH, you must deal enough damage in Fury Ignition's mode and activate it as the fourth move in Fury Ignition's mode moveset.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Has very simple and high-damage combos.
  • Character in general has lots of mix-ups and combo potential with his first and second moves.
  • Has 2 Ultimate forms, making the user be able to enter two separate I-frame states to potentially avoid high-damage moves.
  • Exploding Star stops the Ultimate bar drain throughout the whole duration of the cinematic, allowing the user to take advantage of their ultimate mode for longer and safely wait for the other skills to end their cooldown.
  • Ground cannon combo extends with every single move, even Blast Catapult.
  • Fury Ignition is good for teamers.
  • Fury Ignition ultimate moves all have low cooldown
  • Every base move has a finisher, prompting an easier path to get the passive
  • Fury Ignition has access to high mobility with Eruption Dive
  • Eruption Dive has a big AoE effect, effective for taking out multiple people
  • TENTH TORCH deals 233% damage; if you land all of it's moves with the transformation sequence, it deals an astonishing 348% damage
  • The Explosion Hero's Ultimate does a lot of damage. He also has a second awakening, so it's the best ultimate to defeat Namu
  • BLAST AWAY is almost a certified kill when landed after 3 M1 if the enemy has no evasive
  • BLAST AWAY has I-Frames even without hitting a target
  • Every base move combo extends with each other.
  • Nuke saves your killstreak despite the fact that you die when using the move

Cons

  • Blast Catapult sometimes launches targets too far to reliably do a follow-up, or straight away doesn't launch them at all.
  • Base moveset arguably has the lowest total damage across all characters.
  • The first use of Powered Shot has some recoil, making it so you can potentially whiff/miss follow-ups (ex: a frontal dash). Powered Shot's second use).
  • Fury Ignition only has 3 ultimate moves if you don’t do enough damage to access Tenth Torch.
  • Struggles to do significant damage through combos at first due to the character having no true combo extenders and making it rely on people wasting their Evasive.
  • Even though Tenth Torch does a lot of damage, it's shorter than the rest of the ults and can be punished.
  • The beginning of NUKE doesn't have I-Frames, so your opponent can stop it
  • Blitz Kick can be punished easily if used raw or missed.

Trivia/Notes

Fury Ignition theme is called "Violence" by Will Stetson. Tenth Torch theme is called "Might+U" by Makayla Phillips. Exploding Star theme is called "Bombing King" by Paul Owen Music.

"Soft ragdoll": Ragdolled, but vulnerable to M1s. This effect applies to every single player hit by Ground Cannon.

Blast Catapult is based on Bakugo's "Explode-O-Pult/X-Catapult".

Eruption Dive Is based on "Howitzer Impact", though the start-up has a small reference of Katsuki's "Explosive Speed".

Infernal Shot is either based on Bakugo's "AP Shot".

In the impact frame of the punch that starts Tenth Torch, there's a rectangle displaying the word "SMASH."

In another impact frame of the Punch that activates Tenth Torch, there is Japanese symbols, translated to "ONE FOR ALL".

In the final impact frame of NUKE, there is orange text that says "BOOM!".

"BLAST AWAY" has a chance of making the grabbed player say “HELP!” or "SOMEONE HELP ME!".

The Tenth Torch cutscene is a reference where Izuku Midoriya gave Katsuki Bakugo some stockpiling energy from One For All throughout open wounds on both heroes' arms in the movie "My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising" in order to stop Nine. Shown here (Stops at around the 1 minute mark.)
